Lead Project Manager

Lead Project Manager — ATLAS SENTINEL (AI / Data / Security)
Prezis | Netherlands | Full-time | Senior level

About the role

Prezis is building ATLAS SENTINEL: an AI-driven system that brings together data from multiple domains (online, physical, geospatial, meteorological, etc.) and translates it into actionable risk insights for applications in security, large-scale events, and related areas.

This project is currently in a ramp-up phase. There is clear direction and substance, but no fully operational system yet. This is your opportunity to help shape whether it evolves into a globally deployable platform.

Are you our Lead Project Manager who doesn’t step into an existing structure, but builds and drives it?

What you will do

You are responsible for building and executing the entire program.

This includes:

  • Setting up the project structure (workstreams, planning, deliverables)
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams (engineers, data scientists, students)
  • Ensuring alignment between data, AI models, and end-user application
  • Prioritizing work and making decisions under time pressure
  • Driving the rapid development of working prototypes and continuous iteration
  • Identifying and resolving bottlenecks in technology, team, or process
  • Reporting to leadership and translating progress into concrete results

The focus is not on documentation or process, but on rapid execution.

What you bring

Experience

  • Minimum of 8–10 years experience in complex IT and data-driven projects
  • Experience building and scaling systems or platforms
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working in high-complexity, ambiguous environments

Domain knowledge

You have experience with:

  • Data architecture (data pipelines, integration of complex data sources)
  • AI / Machine Learning (basic understanding of models, limitations, outputs)
  • Software development (Agile, iterative development, scalability)
  • APIs, data sources, and real-time data processing
  • Security and data privacy principles (e.g., GDPR)

Strong plus

  • Experience in domains such as:
    • defense / security
    • crisis management
    • intelligence / OSINT
    • public sector
  • Experience working with universities or research institutions
  • Experience with geospatial data and real-time systems

What you need to be able to do

  • Bring structure to environments where none exists yet
  • Make decisions quickly, often with incomplete information
  • Distinguish between what is technically interesting and what truly adds value
  • Keep teams aligned without micromanagement
  • Maintain speed without compromising quality

We Offer

  • Leadership of a strategic and visible development program
  • Direct influence on product, architecture, and direction
  • Work with experienced engineers, data scientists, and external experts
  • Access to academic talent (student teams)
  • A high-speed environment with short lines and direct decision-making

What makes this role different

Most project management roles focus on optimizing existing systems. This role is about building something fundamentally new in how it operates. Success means that within a relatively short timeframe, a system is in place that is actually used in practice.
